Before I Sleep

The mental lists fill my mind as I put my head to the pillow tonight. Yes, it's early to many, but I am of the belief "no thy self".  This self came in from work about an hour ago, had a quick bowl of cereal...yup that was my dinner, caught up with my family members about their days and then turned in. Then there was this tap of a mental annoyance, kind of like....."you forgot something".

I knew what it was right away. I was missing my blog and taking that much needed breath that comes when I write. So here I am, feeling reflective with Thanksgiving being tomorrow.

My Sort Of Top Ten List of things I am thankful for, that would be sort of top ten.......... NOT sort of thankful

10. That I live with three men who make me laugh
  9. The creative process, my thoughts and ideas
   8. Spending Thanksgiving with family
   7. My go to tribe, whether it be a call, text,'re there for me and I am thankful
   6. "Feel good" music, TV and even commercials...thank you Hallmark
   5. Crackers w/ pb&j, chocolate w/ a salt chaser, mashed potatoes with butter melting on the top
   4. The sound of singing, guitar, banjo and piano resonating in my home...those three guys are very
talented and know how to jam
   3. Photos that match the memories of when the boys were younger
   2. The pellet stove
   1. This electric blanket that is making posting to my blog toasty

** disclosure:  I am typing this on a mobile device and not able to preview before posting, so it's
anybody's guess how it will look. Feeling goes... Because the alternative would require me to get out of bed....yeah that's not happening... Good night...and know thyself!

I'm Grounded...................

This is going to be a ranting if you stopped by for some uplifting, be at peace with your part of the world vibe, be sure to read to the end....I get there.

The past few weeks have felt frustrating to me. It wasn't until this past weekend that I realized it was because of technology and all that is required of us to keep up/function in this day and age.

Now I know I sound old and stuck in my ways...but really....come on enough with passwords and P.I.N. #'s, user id's and store reward cards and needing to register them online, I hit my limit. I know the cashier at Sears meant well and is required to ask, but I don't want to leave my email address, nor do I want to link points or even sign up for coupons. I simply want to use this $10.00 bill in my hand, pay for this item and walk out the door.

So on the weekend, after being on the phone for 34 minutes with Kohl's reward center asking why my earned points weren't deducting money on an online purchase, I took a breath, bit my tongue, finished the transaction and figured the technology demons were behind me.

Back up a bit...last week in an effort to save money and have "real internet"...bye bye DSL, I switched us over to Comcast and "bundled" (because isn't everybody bundling??). Well it's Tuesday and I am still without land line phone service and Comcast is saying they are "sorry the change over didn't go smoothly!"

These few examples are just a sampling of how technology is making me nuts and I resent the time it is taking me away from the many other things I'd rather be doing. Like posting to my was feeling too long.

So this morning, I took another breath and I made sure to take the time to regroup. I walked around my home and made mental not of areas that make me smile and bring me joy. It felt good!

I then sat down with a cup a tea and decided to share my week with
you, to get it off my chest and serve as a
reminder to you Dear Readers. Be mindful of what makes you grumbly and then ground yourself before it gets too much. With the holidays quickly approaching, there are far more enjoyable things to be doing! Time with family, counting our Blessings and just chil-axin' are on the top of my list....and I hope they are on yours as well ...and now I am grounded ~

Antiques In My Mind..............

Keeping with the thought of creating moments that I am thankful and fully appreciative of, I share a recent one with you. My thought is, no matter how big or small, if they make me smile and warm my heart, I am grateful.

Yesterday I noticed the sun shining in on this bowl of apples. Now that in itself may seem minor (although I really don't think it is) but it's in taking the time to enjoy & capture the moment, that I am reminded of years gone by....and for that I am thankful!

Both the bowl and scale are part of my kitchen. The fun thing is, both pieces were in my Nana's kitchen many many years ago. These antiques continue to connect us...and on this day, that I believe would have been her birthday, I smile and believe it was not coincidence the sun shone through on the scale and bowl for me to notice, it was Nana saying Hello!........and for that I am truly grateful!

Notice where the sun shines for you Dear Readers and may you discover a special Hello all your own ~
