Simple Pleasures..............

One of the perks of working at a library is the number of materials that pass through my hands on any given day. Today I had the great pleasure of discovering:  Just the little things ~ A celebration of Life’s Simple Pleasures by Nancy Vu

As I flipped through this playful book I felt right at home. The quick thoughts along with heartfelt moments that bring joy, brought a smile to my face. Here I share a few to brighten your day..hope they make you feel the same way. Some Simple Pleasures from the book that I like too include:

Drawing on a foggy window

Finally finding a comfortable sleeping position

When people are protective of you

Accomplishing something before the microwave beeps

Remembering there are good leftovers from the day before

Sleeping on freshly washed sheets

Realizing when your hiccups are gone

When someone is excited to see you

Trying something on and it fits perfectly

Watching water droplets travel across your car window

When the other person hugs back tighter

Hearing crumbs being sucked up into the vacuum cleaner

Old couples holding hands

Getting lost in a book

My Happy Place........


My Happy Place
So, I sat to write twice in the last week and nothing came out. Hmmmm...I try to dissect the cause and still nothing. Can I be out of thoughts, out of stories, out of my mind....I think not! (Good Lord above me, I hope not)

Perhaps I've thought too much recently, over analyzing, decoding and trying to make sense of it all. So now I stop and swoosh my mind is at ease. It's as if I have released the elastic and the pressure subsides. There is such wisdom in "knowing thyself." 

Then I have to wonder (without overtaxing my mind) why do we create pressure that doesn't need to be there? I can't be the only one, right? Some pressures we can reduce, however some are much more difficult to subside. For this week, I will put them into categories. As the stresses, conflicts and/or annoying people aggravate me, I will decide how worthy the situation is of my getting bothered by it. Perhaps some will be avoided all together. 

I will adjust how I look at it, I will let me mind go to my happy place and I will carry on....hopefully with less pressure and a happy heart.

Simple Touches.............

Recently I have been reminded how little touches & small efforts can create a smile, warm a heart and just down right feel good. This past week I have been mindful of just those things. I've made efforts & captured in pictures what my heart and mind are eager to remember. Call it living in the moment, being grateful for what you have or so important....what you create!

Frequently I write about touching lives with kindness, making a difference for those around us and sharing our powers for good (July 31st post) with the world. All so very important, but I feel it is so essential as well, to treat ourselves with the same tenderness and gratitude. It refills our levels, serves as a reward for all that we do and in many cases encourages others to do the same.

This is why I share my thoughts with you Dear Readers. To perhaps spark an aha! moment that inspires you to see things differently, mix things up and make moments feel new and to serve as a reminder of all that you are capable of and deserve!
