"Nice" Never Sounded So Good................

The silkiness of their fragile skin
the words they want to say

The confusion in their eyes
my initial pull to walk away

Tender souls full of feelings and dreams
I wonder how much my visit will truly mean

Her stare is dull from the weathered eyes she sees me through
though while showing her pictures of flowers in Spring,
her feelings I suddenly knew

Her look danced from the photo to me, as I felt at that moment
how happy she could be

Her mumble became bit more clear
as her lips they tried to convey
what her heart was feeling
in her own special way

I listened ever so closely for the word she tried to form
knowing deep inside I longed
to quiet her internal storm

Praying for ease so she wouldn't have to say it twice
then overjoyed by the gentle sound
when I heard her whisper "nice"

My belief is now confirmed of the awareness that lies within
as one struggles towards the end of Life.......to simply let someone in

Post Inspiration
This week at work I was blessed to have an experience that both warmed and broke my heart. Words for a blog post bounced around in my head, to capture all I felt. It was heartwarming and uncomfortable, tender and humbling.

Though it brought a tear to my eye, I was reminded of the importance to sometimes put others before our own discomfort......Easing someone else's pain, can allow healing within us too.

Big Blog Thank You..............

Today I want to send a big THANK YOU! to an awesome website that is having a positive impact on sharing my blog. It is called  Daily Reasons To Be Happy. Please check it out! This wonderful site is a great resource for happy and positive thoughts. They have recently included a link to my blog ~ More Than Mom Thoughts, on their list of "Inspiring Blogs".  I am honored to be included on such a list and am so appreciative to all the folks who have stopped by my blog because of Daily Reasons To Be Happy and keep coming back for more. Thank You Thank You!

A very very special THANK YOU also to all my awesome original readers and supporters who took the maiden voyage with me and are still along for the ride. You have encouraged me along the way with your comments, critiques and sharing of my postings ~ it means the world to me!

THANK YOU! shout out also to the many many readers from countries all around the world. You can't imagine how delighted I am when I check my stats and see how many folks from over 20 countries repeatedly visit my blog. (So glad I installed the translation widget on the right hand side of my blog page)

One of the visions of my blog has always been to share my thoughts, feelings and insights that have brought me aha! moments, in the hopes of brightening your day, motivating you to brighten someone's day, bringing you encouragement and perhaps even sparking your own aha! moment.

The reminder for me while writing More Than Mom Thoughts....is that there is goodness, kindness and gratitude in my Life, ready for the noticing at every turn. Touching lives in a positive way feeds my soul. There is a charge and vibe I can literally feel when being part of something that brings people together for the good of others. We all posses the ability to reach out, and something magical happens when we do! And perhaps one of the most fun things I have discovered while writing this blog is that kindness, gratitude and wanting to live positively has no language barrier. All around the world we are eager to sprinkle our lives with a bit of happiness...to then share it with others, each making our part of the world a little happier.

More Than Mom Thoughts is a link in my happiness chain and I am so appreciative you are part of it with me!

Many Blessings to you Dear Readers!

In The Shadows Of My Mind............

Today's post is my practice for silencing the mental static that creeps in when I am not noticing.

To Do List ... In no particular order

Sit quietly and listen to instrumental piano music online, with my eyes closed

Take 4 deep breaths, slowly exhale & smile between each

Think of moments in my Life when I felt true happiness

Unplug & limit what I have to process when online

Pay close attention to the way the sun comes through a window and casts shadows. Store the memory for another time when I need to find a quiet place in my mind.

Sometimes I have to remind myself that by paying close attention I have the ability to soften the "noise" that clutters and clogs up my thoughts.  When I dash from one thing to the next I am not giving my mind the time to process and filter. Often too, I forget to make the choices that limit the intake. Less computer time more looking at shadows.....less tv time more flipping through magazines that make me smile..Hello Coastal Living!

As I monitor my mental intake, similar to food intake, I can feel better about what goes in and the happier, less stress I feel.

So join me Dear Readers as we look to ease the mental static, look for shadows and create moments to draw from when we are looking for calm.

Would love to hear your tips for quieting things down, in order to recognize happy moments in your Life!

Cheers~

Discover Your Universe.......................

"The universe is full of magical things patiently waiting for our wits to grow sharper"  ~ Eden Phillpotts

When I read this quote I felt it's meaning right away. I believe that once we open our heart and mind to certain things(and not to mention our eyes) we notice so much more.

For example, on my quest to maintain inner peace and calm, I "see" more clearly things that help facilitate me on this journey. I have become aware of books,  classes and most importantly other people that feel a similar way! I gravitate towards the positive energy and vibe that will bring me towards my personal sense of peace.

Just as the positive energy empowers us, the negative energy can bring us down and deplete us. It is so beneficial to stay focused on the positive and you will see more of it bestowed upon you....as resilience is strengthening us for the not so good times.

Choose to surround yourself with those who are on a similar path and journey....Heartfelt, giving and genuine....relationships where you can each be yourselves. One of being able to see the good and share kindness, while making a difference for others.

Now this is not to say we must fake positive when things are crappy.....that's when we need to be genuine also, and find support from our family and friends(or what I like to say our "go to tribe") We all need to know we have one...build one!

Troubles and heartache can be many, but how we perceive it lies within us. Some days are easier than others, that's for sure. Holding on to the belief that we are each the most powerful participant in our lives, can encourage us each and every day.

So let's get to sharpening our wits, and watch as we begin to experience all the magical things the universe has to offer.....and what we choose do with them.

Be mindful Dear Readers that each day holds the amazing possibility to be so much more than "just another day".

Cheers!

*Special note: this is a reworked post that I previously published, that spoke to me again today ~

Thoughts That Make Me Smile.......

Wild flowers and thinking of Spring

 Laughter & celebration with family

The power we all have to touch lives with kindness

New ideas that I am working on & hoping to launch in a few months

The delightful handwritten letter I received from a friend

My passport

The support & love of family and friends in my "go to tribe"

Having years of experience to know, that when Life doesn't feel good....I'll be ok

The endless opportunities each day holds, however big or small WE choose!

What is on your smile list, Dear Readers...if you can't think of one, go ahead and DO something that makes one!
